About
At Georgia-Pacific’s Savannah River Mill, we’ve proudly called Effingham County home since 1986. Today, more than 950 team members help us produce the tissue, towel and napkin products people rely on every day.
Our more than 2,200-acre site is home to five of the world’s 12 largest tissue paper machines and more than 30 converting lines. Together, they produce well-known products such as Compact® tissue, enMotion® towel systems and other paper products used in hotels, airports and beyond, as well as Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® bath tissue and Vanity Fair® napkins.
While we are one of the largest tissue mills in North America, our site is also home to a thriving natural habitat. Hundreds of acres are dedicated to longleaf pine forests and wildlife, including wood duck nesting boxes and gopher tortoise burrows. For more than 15 years, our habitat has been recognized through the Wildlife Habitat Council’s Conservation Certification program.
Being part of Effingham County means more than operating a facility. It means investing in the people and organizations that make the community strong. On any given week, you can find us leading classroom sessions with students in our local school system, proudly sharing our products in local parades, and serving in other dynamic volunteer roles.
