  • Leadership Effingham, founded in 1989, educates a select group of citizens each year in all facets of Effingham County. This initiative creates a trained pool of candidates ready for service on various non-profit boards or government committees when vacancies arise. Professionals in county government, hospital administration, public education, taxation, residential and economic development, community service, and law enforcement provide the course content.

Graduates of Leadership Effingham have served, or currently serve, in the Georgia House of Representatives, on the County Board of Commissioners and city councils, the chamber of commerce Board of Directors, Effingham County Schools, the health system, and in important positions in leading companies and agencies.

Candidates must attend all eight daytime courses to learn about Effingham County. Participants also collaborate with the class to complete a project of significance for the community.
