Effingham Day at the Capitol will be held on February 11, 2020. Citizens of Effingham will gather in Atlanta to advocate for our community. Tentative plans, at this point, are as follows:
On February 10th, there will be a GDOT meeting at 1pm. With a meeting time of 1pm, you can drive up that morning and still only incur one night of hotel expenses. It is very important that we have a large representation at the GDOT meeting to ensure they understand our transportation needs and to learn the status of local projects. If you plan to attend, please notify the Chamber at (912)754-3301 so that we can furnish your name to security to get pre-clearance in the building.
We will also have a reception from 6pm – 9pm on the evening of Monday, February 10th at The Ritz-Carlton. This reception will be open to all Effingham County attendees and invited guests recommended by our local state representatives.
On Tuesday morning February 11th, Effingham Day at the Capitol begins with a “grab and go” type breakfast on the 4th floor of the Capitol from 7:15am – 8:45am (times are tentative at this point). All of the state legislatures will be invited to join us. We hope that everyone attending Effingham Day will join us for the breakfast to show support for our County with our state representatives. After breakfast, there will be a little downtime prior to the legislative session and we hope to be able to get the picture with the Governor in during this time. After the session, we will walk over to the Floyd Building for a buffet lunch and to hear from state leaders which we hope will include the Governor, Lieutenant Governor. The lunch should adjourn by 2pm and everyone can be on the road back to Effingham or you can schedule other meetings for the afternoon.

Please reference ‘Effingham County Chamber of Commerce” to receive the room rate of $189 per night (single or double occupancy) plus all applicable taxes and fees. Rates outside the block will be substantially higher. Rooms must be booked by January 9, 2020, to be eligible for the discounted rate. We have a minimum number of rooms booked for Sunday, February 9th for those that want to plan meetings in Atlanta on Monday.
