• Collections System Operator (I) (II)

    Job Description
    EOM is seeking an individual to perform a variety of skilled tasks necessary to maintain, operate, and repair sanitary sewer systems; operates required tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to wastewater collection systems.Work is performed under direct supervision (Operator II), general supervision (Operator I), under the direction of the Department Manager/Lead Operator.
    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    •Perform the full range of collection maintenance duties including sewer system maintenance and repair.
    •Operate and adjust controls on collection system equipment and machinery, such as valves, pumps and motors.
    •Monitor, repair, and maintain wastewater system lift stations; remove debris; disassemble and clean pumps; perform minor repairs when necessary.
    •Grease and clean equipment; read and interpret meters and gauges.
    •Inspect and make repairs to collection system equipment.
    •Operate video inspection system for underground sewer lines and storm drains.
    •Perform general plant maintenance work, such as sweeping, cleaning, sanding, and painting of equipment and facilities.
    •Rod sanitary sewers; install and repair sanitary sewer laterals and trunk lines.
    •Observe and enforce safety precautions.
    •Enter and work in permitted confined spaces and underground trenches.
    •Locate, mark, and notify sewer lines per underground service alert requirements.
    •May temporarily be assigned to work with other departments as needed.
    •Operate trucks, tractors, and other motorized equipment of comparable size and complexity.
    •Perform related duties as required.
    WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    •Principles and practices used in the operation and routine maintenance of a wastewater collection system.
    •Operational characteristics of maintenance and construction equipment and tools used in work activities.
    •Occupational hazards and standards of safety practices.
    •Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles related to the operation of collection system equipment.
    •Motor vehicles, generators, pumps, gauges, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, and a variety of related equipment.
    •Electrical/Mechanical Experience a Plus
    •Safe work practices and policies.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
    •Possession of a Level I, II, or III Water Operator license issued by the State of Georgia Licensing Board
    •Possession of a valid CDL Georgia driver license.
    •Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid C.P.R. Certificate. Safety is the company’s number one priority.
