    Job Description
    Summary:  
    The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce is seeking an organized planner with QuickBooks skills.  This person will manage the office and help plan the events of the Chamber.
    Responsibilities:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations by supporting the front desk with answering phones, greeting guests, posting and depositing checks and cash as well as running credit cards.
    • Prepare invoices for the Executive Directors approval for payment.
    • Represent the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce in a positive light
    • Prepare financial reports using QuickBooks
    • Enter membership and renewals into ChamberMaster system
    • Attend and be actively involved in appropriate Effingham County Chamber of Commerce events, programs and organizations including weekly staff meetings.
    • Development and implementation of various networking and professional development programs delivered to chamber members
    • Development and implementation of special events including but not limited to Effingham Day at the Capitol, Night in Effingham, and Annual Meeting
    • Coordinate Chamber’s Community Calendar
    • Perform other job duties as assigned by the Executive Director
    Knowledge, Experience, and Education Required:
    • Minimum of two years of professional experience; experience with book keeping and event planning preferred
    • Experience using QuickBooks required
    • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple projects at one time
    • Strong written communications skills
    • Ability to think creatively and innovatively as well as provide solutions
    • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the business community in Effingham County and surrounding region
     
    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a desk and computer for long periods of time, is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. May be requested to lift materials of up to 35 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include reading computer screen and written documents; close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Communicate via verbal, audible and written means.
    Work Environment: Majority of duties will be performed in and from the Chamber’s office in Springfield during regular business hours. Travel and work off-site will be required, as well as occasional work on evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
    Background Check and Drug Test:  Selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check and drug test.
    Time Commitment: An average time commitment will be 20 hours per week in order to fulfill the duties required of this position.
    Compensation and Employee Benefits: Compensation is commensurate with experience and is structured with an hourly wage.
