    The Springfield DDA welcomes you to Downtown Springfield for a scenic bike ride through Effingham County. The Ride will begin and end in Springfield, at Ulmer Park. We've worked hard over the years to help improve downtown Springfield and proceeds from this annual ride have helped to fund facade grants and beautification projects that have made a huge difference. SWAG bags for all participants will include information about stores, restaurants, and events coming up in downtown. We will be raffling off awesome prizes from our Springfield businesses as well. We hope that this will give you a sample of downtown and that you will come back for a visit! There will be rest stops along the route with restrooms, drinks, and snacks. Water and snacks will be available at registration as well. SAG support will be patrolling the route - Special Thanks to the Effingham Fire Department for providing amazing route support over the years and for coming back to do it again this year. Laminated pocket size route cards will be given to each rider with both a map and a turn by turn direction sheet. We will be providing a small lunch after the race until 1:00pm - Menu TBD and will be sent out in a later email.     The Run To The Railyard is a car and bike Poker Run. All proceeds will be donated to Effingham Navigators. We will be starting at 9:30 with the first vehicle out around 10:00. Second stop will be Trinity Motorsports in Pooler followed by Red Door Auctions in Bloomingdale, then on to Brass Rail in Guyton. Ending at Railyard Media in Springfield where there will be live entertainment, food and other stuff. We will be having a Show N Shine after the Poker Run with trophies. This event is sponsored by Northern Lights Auto Detailing LLC. So come on out and support a great cause, see some great cars and bikes and meet some great people.     The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 29, 6pm at the Effingham County Veterans Park in Springfield. U.S. Commander Johnny L. Mincey of the Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston will speak, with special music by the Phillips Family. The public is invited to attend and help pay special tribute to those from Effingham who have given their lives in the service to their country. In case of rain, the Memorial Day Tribute will be held at the Board of Education Building, 405 N. Ash Street in Springfield. Mincey is the 22nd commanding officer of Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston. Prior to assuming command, Mincey served as the brig?s executive officer for 20 months and as a surface warfare officer.
